iPhone 5 發佈時盡管被外界形容為毫無驚喜之作，甚至蘋果已不再是蘋果之說不絕。上週五第一輪預購開始，結果卻是再度證實蘋果的實力依然。官方剛發表新聞稿，公佈了首天預購量達200萬部，數量比起去年iPhone 4s首天預購量100萬部多足一倍。
官方在新聞稿中指出，iPhone 5是公司史上最暢銷的產品。首天的24小時預購中，達200萬之多。換言之，即是每分鐘售出1,389部，每秒售出23部。這記錄比起iPhone 4s於去年首天預購100萬部，多出了一倍。

iPhone 4s 另一記錄是正式開售後短短三天內售出400百萬部，平均每1秒售出16部。現時iPhone 5還沒正式發售，但依情形推斷，在9月21日正式發售後，iPhone 5將可再次打破這個記錄。
